This photograph won the Arts in the Valley Festival (Kangaroo Valley, 2009) photography prize and was
described by the judges as follows:

"Photographer, Chris Donaldson, has captured not only a compelling portrait of artist Ann Carr-Boyd, but a powerful connection between her and her music. Both judges particularly liked the deep thought and creation of music portrayed through her eyes, the beautiful lighting, and the use of black and white to tell the story. The theme "words and music" is conveyed simply but tellingly in this winning image."
